CelcomDigi strengthens 5G leadership as DNB enters its next phase of development

October 1, 2026

Key DNB milestones unlock opportunities for greater network synergies, improved 5G economics and stronger customer experiences

PETALING JAYA, 1 OCTOBER 2026 – CelcomDigi Berhad (“CelcomDigi”) strengthened its 5G position following the completion of Digital Nasional Berhad’s (“DNB”) RM5.2 billion financing exercise, the award of its long-term 5G spectrum allocation today, and progress towards the transfer of the Minister of Finance (Incorporated) (“MoF Inc.”) shareholding to the mobile network operator (“MNO”) shareholders.

Together, these developments provide greater financial, spectrum and ownership certainty, enabling CelcomDigi to leverage its scale and extensive network assets to unlock network and cost synergies, improve 5G economics and deliver stronger 5G experiences for consumers and enterprises.

Stronger financial foundation with Malaysia’s largest 5G spectrum holdings

The completion of DNB’s financing exercise supports its capital structure and financial capacity to support network priorities. Based on DNB’s current regulatory commitments and funding requirements, it is also expected to reduce the need for additional equity funding from its mobile network operator (“MNO”) shareholders, enabling greater focus on improving the efficiency and performance of the 5G network.

The award of DNB’s 5G spectrum over a 15-year period will provide further long-term certainty over spectrum availability and costs, supporting more effective network planning and investment. With 200MHz of contiguous mid-band spectrum, DNB is well positioned to meet growing consumer and enterprise demand, while providing a strong foundation to modernise the network, expand indoor building solutions (“IBS”), enhance coverage and maximise spectrum utilisation. Combined with CelcomDigi’s extensive network footprint and network infrastructure, this creates further opportunities to enhance 5G capacity, coverage and customer experience.

Bringing CelcomDigi’s scale and experience to DNB

Upon completion of the share transfer from MoF Inc, the MNO shareholders will assume a greater role in jointly steering DNB’s strategic and operational priorities together.

CelcomDigi will bring its scale, nationwide network assets and more than 30 years of telecommunications experience to support DNB – leveraging existing infrastructure, sites and capabilities to drive cost efficiencies, support coverage expansion and accelerate indoor 5G deployment. Synergies between DNB and shareholders infrastructure will support a more efficient and sustainable 5G network.
