CelcomDigi inspires Malaysians to celebrate the harvest festival by reconnecting with Mother Nature

May 27, 2024

PETALING JAYA, 27 May 2024 – CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) calls for Malaysians to reconnect and commune with the nature as we celebrate the upcoming harvest festival celebrations, Pesta Kaamatan in Sabah and Hari Gawai in Sarawak. CelcomDigi is excited to present ‘Nadi’, a music project created in harmony with Mother Nature, symbolising the importance of the connection that one has with the land, and to celebrate the bountiful harvest that was gifted to us.

In this festive film directed by Kelabit filmmaker Sarah Lois Dorai, CelcomDigi hopes to highlight the presence of the vital connection between humans and nature as we continue to depend on each other to thrive. The film documented the journey of three talented musicians from East Malaysia - Sape musician Alena Murang, music producer Joshua Maran, and Sundatang revivalist Gindung in their quest to compose an instrumental piece featuring music harnessed from paddy plants, soil, flowers and trees proving that the nature is very much a living being with its own ‘Nadi’ and ‘voice’, in need of care, love and respect just like humans do.

Sonification technology was utilised to transform the plants’ vibrations into soundwaves, where the data collected was transmitted to the recording studio in real time on CelcomDigi’s widest and fastest network. The musicians then used a synthesiser to harness harmonised tune from the sounds captured from the plants and trees, and weaved these melodies with traditional instruments like Sape, Sundatang and Kulintangan, creating a beautiful musical piece that celebrates the very essence of nature.

As we celebrate this harvest festive season, CelcomDigi hopes to inspire Malaysians to appreciate the nature and nurture a relationship that is filled with care and respect to this land we call home, preserving it for our future generations.
