PETALING JAYA, 24 August 2026 – CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) has enhanced its network safeguards against scam calls with a voice firewall that detects and flags suspicious calls in real time before customers engage them. This initiative adds another layer of protection for CelcomDigi’s over 20 million customers nationwide.
The technology’s advanced capabilities are fully embedded into CelcomDigi’s core network, providing greater visibility into call activity. By doing so, it can analyse traffic patterns and risk indicators with high precision to identify malicious and potentially fraudulent activity even before it reaches our customers. This complements the company’s SMS firewall technology, which continues to detect and filter malicious and prohibited messages at network-level.
During a recent pilot, the technology detected 355 million malicious and suspicious call attempts, including 217 million robocalls. Following the nationwide rollout in July, suspicious incoming calls are flagged with a “Suspected Scam” alert on customers’ phones, helping them make informed decisions to prevent potential scam calls.
