PETALING JAYA, 15 June 2023 - CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) is making it easier for customers to report scams or potentially fraudulent activities when they call the Celcom or Digi customer call centres.
Striving to do business responsibly, the company is guided by the simple principle to ACT - to create Awareness, drive high Compliance internally while supporting enforcement agencies, and leverage Technology in the best way to combat cybercrimes and continue building relevant safeguards for Malaysians.
The ‘Report A Scam’ option has been included in the automated customer service menu known as the Interactive Voice Response (IVR). This option helps all CelcomDigi customers who want to immediately file a report on scams to call the respective customer call centres, 019-6011111 for Celcom or 016-2211800 for Digi.
Upon choosing to report any incidences of scams, or suspicious calls or SMSs, customers would be given two options:
Alternatively, customers can report a scam directly via the respective Digi and Celcom websites. These initiatives are a part of CelcomDigi’s ongoing anti-scam efforts in protecting customers, and in cultivating a safer information ecosystem.
Arming the society against scam through continuous awareness
Continuously helping Malaysians develop a stronger resilience towards scam tactics, CelcomDigi had co-launched the Jelajah Anti-Scam Kebangsaan 2023 (JAS23) alongside its partners, CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) and the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF). The nationwide awareness roadshow kickstarted in Perlis last month with various educational activities for all age groups.
A simplified anti-scam booklet, among other materials, has been published to equip Malaysians with the right knowledge and tools to prevent them from falling victims. It provides information on common scam types, ways to identify these different tactics, as well as prevention tips and reporting guidelines.
The public can also download various internet safety tips and resources, including guidebooks for parents and children, infographics and video series from the Safer Internet portal, or learn more about scams and frauds from Kekal Selamat, or Awas Always webpages.
