CelcomDigi and Yinson seal partnership to elevate Malaysia鈥檚 eMobility ecosystem

PETALING JAYA, 19 September 2023 鈥 CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) and Yinson Holdings Berhad (Yinson), a global energy infrastructure and technology company, have sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to partner in the development of innovative electric vehicle (EV) services and infrastructure for Malaysian consumers, driving EV and green energy adoption in the country.

The collaboration enables Yinson to leverage CelcomDigi鈥檚 widest, fastest 4G LTE and 5G network to power up the connectivity for chargEV, the nation鈥檚 largest charge point operator, as well as for rydeEV and drivEV in the eMobility space. 聽

In addition, both companies will work together to explore new, innovative solutions that will allow consumers to stay connected while having easier everyday access to clean, technology-enhanced services including eBikes, electric vehicles, EV charging stations and solar infrastructure integration. 聽

CelcomDigi鈥檚 Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Idham Nawawi said that via its Innovation Centre, the company continues to strengthen its commitment as the digital enabler for Malaysians, bringing innovation and IoT solutions beyond telecommunication services to connect lives everywhere and enhance Malaysians鈥 digital lifestyle. 聽

鈥淭his is a significant milestone in our long-standing partnership with Yinson 鈥 the first time in Malaysia that a telecommunication service provider teams up with a global energy infrastructure and technology company to jointly innovate the way we bring EV services to consumers. The automotive industry is undergoing radical transformation, with automakers agreeing that the next five years will bring about more change than the previous three decades, driven by the significant possibilities brought about by electric vehicles in particular, and green technology in general.鈥

鈥淲e are excited to work with Yinson to drive green-tech adoption among Malaysian consumers to support the nation鈥檚 energy goals as outlined in the New Industrial Master Plan 2030. We will explore various opportunities, from enabling connected assets to developing a robust and integrated infrastructure ecosystem. The MoU was signed by Datuk Idham Nawawi and Lim Chern Yuan during the EVM Asia 2023 that was held as part of the Smart Nation Expo 2023. The signing ceremony was witnessed by YB Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Malaysia. Also present were Yinson鈥檚 Group Executive Chairman, Lim Han Weng, CelcomDigi鈥檚 Deputy CEO, Albern Murty, and Chief Innovation Officer, T. Kugan.
