CelcomDigi and Yinson GreenTech make e-bike ownership easy via postpaid plan subscription

First telco offering of its kind in the market to scale electric vehicle adoption in Malaysia

PETALING JAYA, 23 January 2024 - CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi)and Yinson GreenTech today announced a partnership offering for Malaysians to own an electronic vehicle (EV) at the convenience of subscribing via CelcomDigi postpaid account. The collaboration and launch today was witnessed by the Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI), YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz.

Made possible through a partnership between CelcomDigi’s Innovation Centre and Yinson GreenTech, the green technology business unit of Yinson Holdings Berhad (Yinson), customers can now lease-to-own a rydeEV e-bike simply by signing up for any of CelcomDigi’s Postpaid 5G plans with the Easy360 instalment plan.  

This marks thefirst offering devised since both parties inked an MoU last September promisingto explore thedevelopment of innovative electric vehicle services and infrastructure forMalaysian consumers, driving EV and green energy adoption in the country.

Tengku Zafrul said: “The Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry welcomes cross-industry collaboration, and this is well-reflected in policies such as the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP2030), and the National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP2020). Today, it is encouraging to again see a cross-industry and unique, first-of-its-kind collaboration between CelcomDigi and Yinson GreenTech to drive affordable access to EVs, particularly for Malaysians to benefit from Budget 2024’sElectric Motorcycle Usage Scheme, and contribute to Malaysia’s net zero target by 2050.”

Convenient rydeEV e-bike ownership with the all-in-one Easy360 instalment plan

CelcomDigi offers customers the convenience of an all-in-one subscription model via theEasy360 instalment plan. Customers simply need to sign up for any CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G plans and subscribe to Easy360 instalment plan to lease-to-own one of two rydeEV e-bikes, at RM299 per month (Ryder model) or RM430 per month (Hypermodel), for 36 months. Adding to the existing benefits of the Easy360instalment plan – RM0 upfront payment (for eligible customers), 0% interest andRM10 postpaid plan rebates for 36 months – customers also enjoy added EV-related benefits throughout the contract period, including:

  • Unlimited battery swaps at appointed battery stations(currently available within Klang Valley)
  • Road tax and insurance coverage
  • E-bike maintenance (except tyres) 

 Upon concluding the 36-month contract, customers have the option to own the e-bike for just RM1.

Early bird customers will receive a FREE limited-edition helmet when they sign up for this plan, while stocks last. The helmet will be received upon collection or delivery of the e-bike.

Extra rebates with Government rebate scheme

Customers who qualify for the Electric Motorcycle Use Promotion Scheme (MARiiCas)government rebate scheme are also eligible for a RM2,400 rebate on their e-motorcycle purchase, in the form of a RM200 monthly rebate over a period of 12 months. This rebate, added on to the above instalment plan, brings the total cost of ownership for the e-motorcycle to as low as RM169 per month for the first year, on the lowest subscription plan.  Own either the Ryder or Hyper e-bike with your plan

There are two rydeEV e-bike models that will be made available to CelcomDigi customers – the Ryder and Hyper models. Ryder has a maximum speed of 65km/h and comes in one colour (red) while Hyper has a maximum speed of 90km/h and comes in three colours (red, blue, and orange). Both models have an average riding range of 70- 75km when fully charged at the riding speed of 45km/h, depending on riding behaviour and load.

 Complete with swappable batteries, and cutting-edge green technology

Ryder and Hyper are both equipped with swappable battery technology capabilities, effectively eliminating the need to stop and charge the e-bike when battery is low. Utilising a battery-as-a-service model, e-bike riders can simply swap their current battery, when running low on power, to a new fully charged one at convenient battery stations.

 This offering in partnership with Yinson GreenTech is in line with CelcomDigi’s aspiration to drive innovation in the area of connected mobility and contribute to the nation’s 2050 net zero carbon emission target. In addition to introducing rydeEV’s latest range of e-bikes and battery swapping technology in Malaysia, Yinson GreenTech also operates the rydeEV Experience Centre in Petaling Jaya, which welcomes the public to test ride the unique rydeEV experience.
