CelcomDigi and DHL Supply Chain reimagine logistics with Malaysia’s first 5G-Powered AI Autonomous Warehouse

October 12, 2023
  • Automated inventory management solution using 5G powered and AI-enabled Autonomous Drones
  • Significant efficiency and productivity gains for warehouse inventory management

SHAH ALAM, 12 October 2023 – CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) and global market leader for contract logistics solutions, DHL Supply Chain Malaysia (DHL), initiated Malaysia’s first 5G-powered Artificial Intelligence (AI) Autonomous Inventory Management System. Supported by CelcomDigi’s 4G LTE network and 5G connectivity, DHL’s Integrated Logistics Centre located in Shah Alam is now equipped with the latest AI and robotic solutions, for optimised and efficient inventory management.

Delivered through its newly set up Innovation Centre, CelcomDigi’s collaboration with DHL leverages 5G technology and AI solutions for robotic inventory management system, providing an enhanced and efficient multi-story warehouse management at optimum standards. By utilising the capabilities of autonomous drones, DHL carries out daily inventory management and operational tasks with automated stock-taking solutions and computer vision technologies independently and without human error. The solution will enable efficient stock counting operations, achieving up to 20 times efficiency with up to 100% precision and accuracy. The solution enhances space utilisation within the warehouse and reduces daily electricity consumption.

The collaboration is a pivotal initiative to unlock synergies between different industries, delivering elevated logistic operations within an AI-driven digital ecosystem. CelcomDigi and DHL will continue its collaboration to evaluate the implementation of 5G powered AI autonomous drones and robotic inventory management systems to all DHL warehouses nationwide. Malaysia’s first 5G-powered AI Autonomous Inventory Management System was officiated by the Minister of Communications and Digital, YB Fahmi Fadzil.

CelcomDigi CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi said “The collaboration between our Innovation Centre and DHL demonstrates the real value and benefits of 5G technology, robotics, and AI as part of our continuous effort to drive 5G adoption and enablement effectively with Malaysia’s enterprises and digital ecosystem at large.
