Mr Håkon Bruaset Kjøl (Haakon Bruaset Kjoel) is a senior business leader and has held multiple global and regional leadership roles in the telecommunications sector across Europe and Asia.
He has a successful track record in delivering strong financial and operational performance, navigating complex and challenging business environments and is well-versed in the areas of strategy, ESG, regulatory and public affairs and corporate communications.
Since February 2024, he manages the day-to-day business and leads the Telenor Asia office in Singapore as Deputy Head of Asia, reporting to President and Group CEO, Telenor.
As Telenor Asia’s Head of Investment Management, he is responsible for Telenor’s activities in Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh and Pakistan including its ownership in the new CelcomDigi Berhad, Malaysia’s leading telecommunications company and in True Corporation, Thailand’s leading telecom-tech company.
Mr Kjoel joined Telenor Group in 1995 and has gained extensive international experience through his involvement in Telenor’s international activities in Europe and for the last 24 years in Asia.
Mr Kjoel has close to 20 years of Board experience, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of several Telenor Group companies in Singapore and True Corporation Public Company Limited in Thailand.
He is Board Chair of Grameenphone Ltd. in Bangladesh and Deputy Board Chair, CelcomDigi Berhad in Malaysia.
Mr Kjoel is also a non-executive Director of the internationally renowned architect and design firm Snøhetta AS headquartered in Oslo, Norway.
Mr Kjoel holds a Master of Business Administration degree from BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, where he also studied public relations.
