Mr Kjoel is a senior corporate and public affairs professional with extensive experience in the telecom and digital industry of Europe and Asia. He joined Telenor Group in 1995 and started his career in the mobile operations in Norway. Since then, he has gained extensive international experience through his involvement in Telenor’s international activities in Europe and for the last 22 years in Asia. During this period, he has held senior global and regional leadership roles in the areas of regulatory and public affairs, government and public relations, corporate communications, sustainability and strategy development. Mr Kjoel was most recently the Senior Vice President and Head of External Relations for Asia at Telenor Asia, from May 2020 until the end of August 2022 where he was responsible for the company’s Asia-focused sustainability, reputation and brand management and stakeholder management initiatives. He is currently the Senior Vice President and Head Investment Management for Malaysia, a role he has held since September 2022 where he is responsible for overseeing Telenor Asia’s activities in Malaysia.
Mr Kjoel has more than a decade of experience in the Board. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of several Telenor Group companies in Singapore, Grameenphone Ltd. in Bangladesh, and Total Access Communication PCL in Thailand. He is also a non-executive Director of the international architect and design company Snøhetta AS headquartered in Oslo, Norway.
Mr. Kjoel holds a Master Degree in Business Administration from BI Norwegian Business School, Oslo and studied marketing and public relations at the same institution.
