CelcomDigi’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Idham Nawawi said, “As a new and dynamic brand in the country, we explored a new approach this year, stepping away from the conventional production and theme of festive films. This year our Hari Raya films were crafted through the lens of three talented, young Malaysian filmmakers, who infused their unique perspectives and personal insights in interpreting what Hari Raya celebration means to our diverse communities, into these films. All the three films have successfully highlighted how simple gestures of mindfulness, acceptance, and support shown to one another matters, focusing on the deeper essence of Aidilfitri in bringing people together.”

The series starts with Erti Aidilfitri by film director Fabian Loo, recounting the story of two brothers, Aidil and Fitri who learn the meaning of Aidilfitri through the values of sincerity, reliability, and honouring elders.

The second short film entitled Sabar, Cikgu by director Haran Karevi, who was inspired by his own childhood experience growing up in a Malay community. The film explores the meaning of solidarity from the point of view of a non-Muslim teacher, who fasts in support of his Muslim students, and in turn experiences the support and openness of his community.

Rounding up the Raya video series is Pulangkan Kasih, based on a personal experience of film director Bebbra Mailin, a Kadazan-Muslim convert. The film features a daughter seeking for her father’s acceptance by bringing the Hari Raya celebration to her family’s home and she witnesses a new gentle love and acceptance from her family.
